It’s cool and relaxing, fun and fascinating—it’s time to go boating on Montgomery Parks’ two beautiful lakes! 

Fish from your boat, paddle around and explore the coves (check out all the turtles!), or just sit back and float for a while! 

At the beautiful 505-acre Little Seneca Lake, you can rent single or double kayaks, canoes or rowboats. Take a self-guided tour of the Black Hill Water Trail to learn more about the ecology, plant and wildlife (bald eagles, beavers and more!) in and around the lake.

At Lake Needwood, choose from single or double kayaks, rowboats, canoes or pedal boats (kids love them!). Be sure to pick up a free “Lake Needwood Scavenger Hunt” card at the boathouse - so you and the kids can hunt for things in and around the 75-acre lake as you go.

Pick a weekday this summer and rent any boat at either lake for just $5 (up to 38% off). Kayaks, canoes and rowboats rent by the hour; pedal boats rent for 30 minutes.

Montgomery Parks owns and operates the boating facilities at Little Seneca Lake in Black Hills Regional Park in Boyds and at Lake Needwood in Rock Creek Regional Park in Rockville (right off Georgia Avenue and Muncaster Mill Road). Why not take a picnic lunch and your hiking shoes, and make a day of it?
