The Boys of Summer have taken their place in the dugout. And they're rolling into town with some star power in the line-up for Big Train's Annual Celebrity Softball Classic. Break out the popcorn and crackerjacks, you'll have so much fun you'll never want to go back to that cold winter chill.
Bethesda Big Train Celebrity Softball Classic -in its third season- starts with a pre-game "warm up" at 5:30 p.m. with a super fun FanFest. This event has it all; FREE classic ballpark food for the first 500 fans, music, and fun games provided by Talk of the Town!
The fun really starts 7 p.m., win the teams take the field. This lineup is one for the ages, loaded with local professional athletes including Ryan Kerrigan of the Washington Redskins, who will take on the "star" power of familiar media faces. Don't count the media out, former Washington Redskin now turned ESPN 980 host, Chris Cooley, looks to guide the media team to their first victory as he fills a dual role as manager and player for this year's media squad.
The proceeds raised from the game will benefit the team's foundation to improve and build baseball fields in nearby communities to provide local children with better places to play. Proceeds will also benefit Lorenzo Alexander's ACES Foundation, The Brave Dave Open, and the Washington Redskins Alumni Association.
All proceeds raised by the game benefit the Big Train’s mission to build new baseball fields around the community and improve existing fields that have fallen into disrepair. It's all for the love of the game!
