13 Kid-Friendly Wineries and Breweries in the Washington, D.C. Area

A winery or brewery may not be the first place to cross your mind when planning a family activity or day trip. Yet, the Washington, D.C. area has a variety of exciting and unique breweries and wineries that warmly welcome kids and families. Many offer plenty of open space for your child to run freely, a lawn for picnics, amazing scenery and are pet-friendly. Some even offer on-site eateries and food trucks. Your child will love having a new adventure and you won't be able to resist the amazing blends brewing right around the corner.
So grab the diaper bag, your stroller, maybe a few action figures or dolls, and get ready for an enjoyable day together! Check out our list below of all the exciting family-friendly events and fun to be had at a Washington, D.C.-area brewery or winery near you.
Wineries
Quattro Goombas in Aldie, Virginia
If you are having trouble deciding between wine or beer, visit Quattro Goombas, a winery and brewery in Northern Virginia's Loudoun County. Quattro Goombas has everything from frozen sangria, craft beer, and wine, to house-made pizza and big city sandwiches. They are family-friendly and have stroller parking as well as a large lawn where pickup games regularly occur. You're welcome to bring a blanket or tent and enjoy an afternoon in the sun. Live music is offered every Friday and Saturday from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m. in the Brewery.
The Urban Winery in Silver Spring, Maryland
The Urban Winery's mission is to create lasting memories and shared stories around their wine. They offer a full menu with several Greek-inspired dishes, non-alcoholic drinks like grape juice, lemonade or apple juice for the kids and some delicious desserts to compliment the wine taster's meal or a young one's sweet tooth. Vineyard meets fairground at Keswick Vineyards! Keswick offers a monthly family fun day, aka Funday Sunday, with snow cone trucks, kettle corn, a petting zoo, face painting, and balloons (May 19th, June 23rd, July 28th, and August 18th). Every other day of the week, during regular hours, you can find a covered porch with outdoor seating and crayons and coloring books available to keep the kids entertained. Bring the family dog along to enjoy the off-leash dog park while you enjoy some wine and the view.

Barrel Oak Winery in Delaplane, Virginia
If you ever need a home away from home, Barrel Oak's patio is always open. Barrel Oak is one of the top-rated Washington, D.C.-area wineries and they welcome kids, pets, parents, and grandparents. The winery often hosts live entertainment; past acts have included troubadours, frisbee dogs, folk singers, and magicians. Upcoming events include Dog Days of Summer, Endless Summer Weekend Bash, and Stomp and Chomp Harvest Party. For a true winery experience, grownups (and kids) can become apprentice winemakers by stomping on grapes Lucy-style in a giant vat. End the day with wine tasting and then head out to their back patio for a bring-your-own potluck dinner and picnic while the kids explore the lawn toys and games. Barrel Oak has everything from hula hoops, wiffle bats, nerf balls and corn hole to complimentary juice boxes for kids and milk bones for the dogs.

Stone Tower Winery in Leesburg, Virginia
Enjoy a wine tasting in a barn at Stone Tower Winery! The Harvest Barn tasting room is family-friendly offering two stories for families to spread out and sit comfortably. They also have a spacious terrace and rolling hills in the front lawn, perfect for picnics and yard games. The Winery at Bull Run in Centreville, Virginia
At Bull Run, you will experience a blast from the past with its historic 21-acre farm and close proximity to Manassas Battlefield Park and other historical sites. While the tasting room is open to everyone, the backyard and adjacent patio are designated for families. Kids ages 12 and up can join their parents on a winery tour that combines wine tasting (ages 21+ only) with a walking tour highlighting the history of the estate. An arcade in a brewery might sound uncommon, but not at Mustang Sally Brewing Company. Their arcade games and yard games like cornhole, make it a great spot for active kids! They also have a pop-up Venezuelan food vendor, Chamos, available when the tasting room is open. Make time for a fun family lunch or dinner at Mustang Sally!
New District Brewing in Arlington, Virginia
For a brewery experience that offers live music, morning yoga classes, artistic receptions, stone carving night and other fun events, stop by New District Brewing. Every Wednesday, there are brewery tours led by the head brewer where you are free to ask questions and learn about the science of brewing.
