Real Mom Review: Monster Jam®
By Marquita Douglas, CertifiKID SubscriberPosted Feb 07, 2020
Monster Jam® is an adrenaline-charged, live motorsport event tour featuring some of the most recognizable trucks in the world driven by world-class drivers, along with ATVs and Speedsters. The event features points-based, action-packed competitions including head-to-head racing, obstacle courses, two-wheel skill challenges, donuts and more.
We sent one of our MOM Squad ambassadors and her family to experience a Monster Jam® Triple Threat Series™ event at Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C. They received free tickets in exchange for providing an honest review of their experience.
Marquita: The view entering the stage was awesome! Having been at Capital One Arena before for other events didn't prepare us for the transformation of the venue into a dirt pit! Our seats were great, close enough to the action without the fear of getting hit from the dirt-slinging trucks.
We got the biggest thrill out of the sounds of the trucks revving their engines that you can feel in your chest. The trucks did jumps, flips, donuts, and obstacle courses. There is even an interactive website where you can vote on the events.
The drivers then switched to ATVs and cage cars to race each other.
The last event was a freestyle and the drivers did stunts until they nearly completely destroyed their trucks. It was AWESOME!!
Throughout the show, the host gave away prizes such as tickets to other events happening at the venue and future Monster Jam events.
What Did You Enjoy Most?
We really enjoyed the seating and view of the show. The energy was amazing! The crowd went absolutely wild when the trucks did some of the most unbelievable stunts. And the wrecks were awesome!
Recommended Age Range
I had four boys with me, ages 6, 7, 9, and 11. I think this event is great for all ages.
Time Recommended to Experience Activity
I would say about 3 hours should be sufficient to experience everything from the show, to purchasing food and souvenirs and taking pictures.
Food and Drink
There is a wide variety of food and drink available for purchase for every palate, from pizza to gourmet mac and cheese as well as adult beverages. Vendors also come around with cotton candy and other snack and novelties for purchase.
Tips for Families
There is no outside food allowed. Bring ear plugs in the event that the noise may be too much for someone in your group. They do have some for sale but again you can purchase them and bring them along for a fraction of the cost.
Would Your Family Visit Again?
I would go to Monster Jam again but only at a larger venue. I just feel like there was not enough space in the staging area at Capital One Arena.
